Socialist MP Erion Braçe has conveyed a strong political message on the 30th anniversary of the May 26, 1996 elections, criticizing the current leaders of the Socialist Party for “forgetting” one of the most violent events of Albanian pluralism, according to him. Braçe recalls the violence and what he calls the electoral massacre of that time, while emphasizing that “socialists do not forget”, underlining that the history of the SP “does not begin with those who lead it today”. The MP’s message comes at a time when he has openly expressed his ambition to run for the leadership of the Municipality of Tirana, which makes his reaction also a direct political signal to the pink dome of the headquarters.
Braçe recalls his 30-year journey in politics and the support that, according to him, he has received over the years from socialists and left-wing voters in several regions of the country.

30 YEARS FROM THE MOST VIOLENT ELECTIONS,
THE BLOODIEST, IN THE RECENT HISTORY OF ALBANIA!
For all those who were not born on May 26, ignorance is understandable. But everyone must understand that the resistance of the men and women of May 26 changed the course of history in this country, accelerated the fall of a CRIMINAL regime that was stealing and killing. For all those who were minors on May 26, saw their parents massacred after they had taken everything from them, including their jobs, and today they lead, forgetting is inexcusable. But each of them must understand that the history of the Socialist Party does not begin with them. For all the others who know about May 26, have lived it, have learned about it but have not experienced it, forgetting is not political. Each of them must understand that it is the blood of the socialists, of the leftist people massacred on May 26 in the middle; blood is not water, it cannot be made into water, it cannot be extinguished with water, it cannot be forgiven!
I have searched several times in 30 years for the minutes of the May 26 elections; I finally found them; I was elected for the first time in these elections, these minutes drawn up after the barbaric violence and electoral massacre prove it.
They are all the same - they show that 95, 96 to 100% of the voter list voted; they are corrected and testify to the massacre and then the massacre; two times, in the first I was the loser, in the second I was the winner - grotesque but with blood.
From June 1997, to 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017, 2021, 2025, eight times in a row I have run for election, I have been elected with the votes of socialists, leftists and people who have believed; I have stood and tried to do the job, with diligence and loyalty to these people in Polican, BERAT, Kucove, Ure, Divjake, Lushnje FIER; I do this work in TIRANA as well; I AM STILL IN DEBT WITH EVERY VOTER, SOCIALIST AND NOT ONLY, THIS WILL BE THE WAY I LIVE!
There is no work or result achieved through work that comes in balance with the greatest honor in life, OF BEING CHOSEN, TO WORK BY THESE PEOPLE!
I am infinitely proud that 30 years later, I am not just known as a member of parliament from Berat, but FROM Berat;
Like from DIVJAKA, Krutja, Allkaj, Bubullima, Kolonja, NOW FROM 5SA OF TIRANA, TIRANA ITSELF!
