Edi Rama, message to Brussels: The Balkans within the EU is not charity, but a strategic victory for Europe

Kosovo will offer temporary residence permits and recognize the identity cards of individuals from the Serbian community who do not have Kosovar documents.

Prime Minister Edi Rama also reacted to this.

"We welcome the coordination between Kosovo and the EU on the Law on Foreigners. Destroying parallel structures is difficult work.

The European Union must show the same courage, lift punitive measures, and move forward with Kosovo's application for membership.

"A Western Balkans fully within the EU is not charity. It is the strategic victory of Europe itself," he writes.

The Kosovo government's decision came after some Serbs in the north of the country were not provided with Kosovo papers as stipulated in the law on foreigners and the law on vehicles, which began to be implemented on Sunday, March 15.
