Braho: Vetting is not immunity, judges and prosecutors remain under the

The Head of the Special Prosecution Office, Klodjan Braho, stated that the vetting process cannot be considered a guarantee or "immunity" for judges and prosecutors in the future, emphasizing that any possible corrupt action will remain the subject of criminal investigations.

During the closing ceremony of the transitional re-evaluation process, Braho stated that the confirmation of magistrates in office relates only to a past period and does not exempt them from legal responsibility for future actions.

"The confirmation of prosecutors and judges in office during the re-evaluation process belongs to a past period. This confirmation cannot serve as 'immunity' for the future. The re-evaluation process has ended, but the standards set for the control of assets, image and professional aspects will continue to be applicable," said Braho.

He underlined that public trust in the justice system is not permanent, but must be earned and maintained through professionalism, independence and respect for the law in every decision-making.

According to the head of SPAK, no judge or prosecutor enjoys immunity from criminal prosecution for corrupt acts they may commit after the completion of the vetting.

"Any possible corrupt action by prosecutors and judges is and will remain under the attention of SPAK, whenever circumstances justify the exercise of criminal prosecution," he stressed.

Braho added that the integrity of the justice system is not protected only by declarative standards, but through professional investigations and equal accountability before the law.

The head of SPAK assessed that the Justice Reform created new institutions with great responsibilities, while emphasizing that the challenge now remains to exercise these responsibilities with integrity, seriousness and full respect for the Constitution and the law.
