The 'doomsday fish' appears on the shores, fear for the warning of a possible disaster

A rare creature called the 'doomsday fish' was discovered by snorkelers off the coast of Southern California.
The 12-foot oarfish, which looks like a large sea snake, was dead when it was found and brought ashore in La Jolla Cove on August 10. This finding shocked marine scientists, where the Scripps Institution of Oceanography said in a Facebook post that the encounter with such a creature is very rare. Since 1901 until now only 20 such fish have been seen in California.
In the published photos, the long sea creature looks like a snake on the surface of the ocean. The strange creature had a silver sheen with gray and black spots along its back and red hair-like bands growing from its forehead.
This creature is known as the doomsday fish because in some areas of the world, these creatures are seen as harbingers of bad news, especially disaster or destruction, according to the Ocean Conservancy.
According to legend, if you see an oar fish, it is a warning sign from higher powers that disasters such as earthquakes will happen soon. In Japan, 20 such fish are said to have washed ashore shortly before a devastating earthquake in 2011.
The group of marine enthusiasts, with the help of California Sea Grant and members of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Fisheries Service, contacted lifeguards to take the fish to a NOAA facility. There, scientists will perform a necropsy to try to determine the creature's cause of death.
