A glass a day? The natural secret that helps against high blood pressure

High blood pressure remains one of the most common health problems and, if not kept under control, can lead to serious consequences such as heart attack, stroke, or heart problems.
According to the American Heart Association, in addition to medication treatment, lifestyle also plays an important role.
A recent study has highlighted a simple ingredient that may help: beetroot juice. The research, published in Free Radical Biology and Medicine, analyzed 78 people divided by age group.
Participants consumed either nitrate-rich beetroot juice or a placebo for two weeks. At the end, it was observed that older people had a slight decrease in blood pressure.
This is related to oral bacteria, which help convert nitrates into nitric oxide, a substance that helps relax blood vessels and improve circulation.
Beets, but also other vegetables such as spinach and arugula, naturally contain nitrates and are considered beneficial for heart health.
However, experts suggest that these results should be seen as additional help. A balanced diet, less salt and regular physical activity remain the main ways to keep blood pressure under control.
