The archaeological map of the Shkodra region is completed with the ancient city

The archaeological map of the Shkodra region has been completed with another archaeological site, for which the zoning and regulations for the preservation and administration of the archaeological "A" zone have recently been determined by the National Council for Material Cultural Heritage.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, emphasized that this is about the ancient city of Bushat.

According to him, archaeological research at this site began in 2018 by a joint Albanian-Polish mission, which is bringing new data and traces on the history and development of the city.

So far, archaeologists have identified two entrance gates to the city, which has made it possible to more clearly define its territorial extent.

Meanwhile, the most recent excavations have focused on the upper city, with the aim of discovering the internal organization and urban planning of this city.

Gonxha emphasizes that preliminary results show that this part of the upper city was massively built in the middle of the 4th century BC.
