Albania under the clutches of corruption!

Stop initiatives for legal changes.
At a time when the perception of corruption in Albania is deteriorating and trust in public institutions is weakening, the fight against corruption is the only way, the uncompromising foundation of a just and democratic state.
Justice reform remains one of the country's most important achievements and the necessary foundation for building independent institutions and the rule of law. Any attempt to weaken that reform through legal or constitutional changes, in response to investigations or judicial decisions, constitutes a clear and immediate threat to democracy.
Transparency International data makes the situation even more worrying: Albania has dropped from 80th place in 2024 to 91st place in 2025 in the Corruption Perceptions Index, while the score has dropped from 42 to 39 points. This regression is not just a number, it is a reflection of a reality where corruption is perceived as protected and justice as obstructed. Any legal intervention that attempts to protect the government from criminal investigations feeds this perception and reinforces the country's slide towards a system where the law is not applied equally to all.
The fight against corruption cannot be won by weakening the prosecution, the courts or the constitutional control mechanisms. On the contrary, it requires full respect for the separation of powers and equality before the law.
Any attempt to place the executive above the judiciary, even with the justification of stability, is a direct blow to the rule of law and destroys public trust in institutions.
In this context, inaction or tolerance of such interventions is not neutrality; it is complicity in normalizing corruption.
