Theft of assets on the coast / The government also privatizes the Dhërmi

The schemes of alienation of coastal properties are no longer sparing the country's border points. The latest in line is the Police Station at the Dhërmi Border Point, which will be transferred to private ownership through the so-called Copëzat project, which is being developed by the Albanian Investment Corporation.

The Police Station at the Dhërmi Border Post is located in one of the most enviable positions on the Ionian coast. Located on the first line of the coast, this property with an area of more than 1800 square meters, borders the beach and offers one of the most stunning views.

This also explains the great pressure of privatization, which will now be finalized through the Copëzat project, the same project that was used to alienate several properties near the former Guarda in Tirana, where Ylli Ujka's company X One says it will erect three high towers up to 70 floors.

State properties that were transferred to the X one company from the former Garda

In the case of the Dhërmi border crossing, this property was owned by the Ministry of Interior. But a few days ago, the government transferred it, with a special decision, to the Albanian Investment Corporation, to be used as an exchange asset in the framework of the implementation of the investment sub-projects "Copëzat" and "Palaşë Public Services Center".

Copëzat
Copëzat is the name of a project that, at its core, has a simple scheme. It transfers theoretically small state-owned parcels, which are located on the border with private properties, to private borderers, and in exchange, the state receives premises on the construction that will be developed by the private party on these properties, or elsewhere.

In the case of state land at the former Garda, at the entrance to the Artificial Lake, the state transferred about 2,600 meters of state property to the X One company, and in return the company will take over the financing of the National Library.

Although the philosophy of the "Shards" project is the transfer of small state-owned plots that are theoretically unusable, in the case of the Dhërmi border crossing this raises questions. There, the property is consolidated and a state-owned facility already exists, namely the border crossing station.

It is not yet known what project will be developed on the property of the Dhërmi border crossing and who the private individual is who has set his sights on this property. This will be revealed after the Investment Corporation completes the procedure, which may be more competitive, but also with direct negotiation as in the case of the pieces at the former Garda.

But aggression on coveted state properties is now coming from all directions, disguised under exotic project names. Somewhere Copëzat, somewhere else Hospitality Albania, and so on.

However, regardless of the names, the end result is the same: public property being transferred to private owners, including military naval bases and police border posts.
