The sinking of the palaces financed by the Arab project, " Durrës Marina ", into the sand of the Adriatic Sea has led to the launch of investigations mainly by the economic crime section of the Durrës prosecutor's office.
Journalist Elton Qyno has learned that the investigation is now in its initial phase and the prosecution is focused on collecting documentation. It will then move on to the next phase of questioning people who have accurate knowledge and have designed the implementation of the project.
It is expected that in the coming days, the first reports from citizens who have purchased commercial units and apartments in buildings that have suffered damage to the foundation structure will be registered with the Durrës prosecutor's office.
After this, several of the construction monitoring institutions conducted field verifications, where yesterday the National Inspectorate for Territorial Protection admitted the existence of the scandal, reflecting the sinking of two buildings.
"...according to the topographic report of the Construction Institute, Object 02 has shown a decrease of 28 cm, while Object 04 has a decrease of 18 cm. IKMT inspectors, representatives of the AZT, IMT of the Municipality of Durres and specialists of the Construction Institute...", the IKMT statement states.
At the same time, IKMT announced that the authority has requested that the project implementing company immediately take measures for structural reinforcement, as well as the prior approval of any intervention by the relevant institutions.
The case is now being handled by the Durrës prosecution, which is reported to have initiated criminal proceedings to conduct investigative measures aimed at uncovering the circumstances of this serious situation, which led to the sinking of two buildings into the sand.
The prosecution is expected to request from the IKMT the topographic reports carried out on the ground and the findings of violations. At the same time, in the coming days, 3 legal experts will be appointed to carry out technical actions on the quality of the construction and the consequences that have occurred.

At the helm of this giant project for the construction of an elite urban business and tourism area is the "Alabar" firm from the United Arab Emirates and the Albanian state itself, and then the design and construction firm.
It turns out that "Alabar" contracted a design firm owned by Ornela Muçi, while the firm that carried out the construction of the buildings is " Elmazaj Konstruksion " owned by Shkëlqim and Mirel Elmazaj.
According to the collected data, a network of private firms are responsible for the sinking of the "Durres Marina", one of the biggest construction scandals in Albania, which started as a strategic investment and is ending in a great shame and stain for Albania.
