They were found guilty of conspiracy, 6 teenagers are sentenced for the case of the teacher who was beheaded in France

A French court sentenced six teenagers on Friday for their role in the shocking 2020 beheading of history teacher Samuel Paty. The teacher had shown cartoons of the prophet Muhammad in class on freedom of expression, angering some Muslim parents.
Most Muslims avoid the appearances of prophets, considering them blasphemy. Among those on trial was a teenage girl who allegedly told her parents that Paty had asked Muslim pupils to leave the room before showing the cartoons.
Five of the teenagers on trial, who were between 14 and 15 years old at the time of Paty's murder, were found guilty of criminal conspiracy. They were found guilty of helping to tell the author when he asked who the teacher was. They said they never thought it would lead to his murder. 4 were sentenced to probation.
The prison terms range from 14 months to two years, but all are suspended or reduced, and no defendant will serve any prison time. The 47-year-old was killed outside the school where he taught in the suburbs of Paris by an 18-year-old attacker of Chechen origin, who was shot dead by police after the attack.
