France is shaken / Shooting in Nice, several casualties reported

Two people were shot dead and five others were injured, some seriously, in the southern French coastal city of Nice, officials said today, as the search for the perpetrators continues.
Authorities said an investigation is underway into suspected premeditated murder by an organized gang.
The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, stated that the shootings that occurred during the night were related to drug crime and that automatic weapons were used.
He called for a permanent increase in police presence in the affected neighborhood.
Following the incident, additional forces were deployed to ensure security in the area, a place known to be problematic and prone to violent crime, according to the prefecture.
According to French media, the suspects are on the run and are being sought by authorities.
