Meeting with Generals and Admirals, Trump with irony: If you don't like

US President Donald Trump, speaking at Quantico on Tuesday, appeared to mock the generals and admirals present during his speech. “I’ve never walked into a room so quiet,” Trump said with a laugh, as Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth spoke next to him.

Trump added that he had been warned that he would find "a peaceful crowd," referring to representatives of the Pentagon's general staff.

“They said to me, ‘Mr. President, you won’t hear a whisper in the hall,’” he said. “I said I need to get these guys to relax a little bit.”

The president also addressed the audience with the message that anyone who doesn't value his word can leave — and that this will affect their careers.

"If you don't like what I'm saying, you can leave the room. And down with your rank, down with your future," Trump said ironically.

He had previously made it clear that he would fire anyone he didn't like.

"I will meet with generals, admirals and leaders, and if I don't like someone, I will fire them on the spot," he declared.

The extraordinary meeting of top commanders took place in the US with everyone's attention focused on the statements of Pete Hegseth. In Hegseth's words, the US military is "the most powerful, deadliest and best-trained force on the planet" and must be ready for war, not just for defense.

Sensitive topics were also addressed during the speech: Hegseth announced that transgender people will no longer serve in the military, according to data presented in the speech.
