War in the Middle East, experts warn of record ticket prices

Airline ticket prices are expected to rise in the coming months due to what experts are calling the "largest disruption in the history of the energy market," linked to problems in the supply of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz.
During a hearing at the Treasury Committee in the British Parliament, energy markets expert Amrita Sen, founder and director of analysis at Energy Aspects, said that the current situation constitutes a historic shock to the global energy market.
According to her, although the price increase is not yet as severe as during Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the sector most affected currently is jet fuel.
“It’s really crazy what’s happening in the jet fuel market,” Sen said. She explained that a large portion of the production of this fuel is done in the Middle East and Asia, and at the moment it’s very difficult to find alternative sources to meet demand.
The threat to maritime transport in the Strait of Hormuz has prevented crude oil from passing through normally, which directly affects the production of jet fuel.
As a result, experts expect significant increases in ticket prices, which could last for at least several months.
