Kremlin warns: If US sends Tomahawks to Ukraine, we will respond appropriately!

Russia will respond "in an appropriate manner" if the United States transfers Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
This is what Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said to Russian journalists who asked him today (October 2, 2025).
His comments came days after US Vice President JD Vance said the US was considering Ukraine's request for the missiles, which have a range of up to 1,600 kilometres.
Peskov did not specify what measures Moscow might take, the media wrote.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reportedly pressured US President Donald Trump about the missiles during a private meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on September 23.
Ukraine has wanted these missiles for years, as they can fly at low altitudes, perform evasive maneuvers, and be reprogrammed in flight. Therefore, they would be useful for attacks on command centers and logistics points deep behind the front lines. In fact, according to Zelensky, legitimate targets could be centers of power, including the Kremlin.
Currently, Ukraine relies on Western Storm Shadow missiles with a range of 250 kilometers. Russia, on the other hand, has a significant advantage with Kalibr cruise missiles and Iskander ballistic missiles.
To compensate, Ukraine has turned to long-range drone attacks, targeting Russian fuel depots, military bases, and infrastructure far from the battlefield.
