Iran attacks Iraq too! Bombings at Basra airport and 2 international oil industries

Four drones struck Basra airport and two oil facilities in southern Iraq, according to a security official who spoke to AFP.

He said a drone crashed into the cargo terminal at Basra airport.

Two others hit facilities of a US company at the Bourgesiya oil complex, while a fourth hit the large Rumaila oil field, where British energy giant BP operates.

At the same time, French energy group TotalEnergies has asked its foreign staff to urgently withdraw from projects it is implementing in Basra, according to sources in the Iraqi oil sector.

The decision was made following Iranian attacks in the region, which followed the start of the United States and Israel's military campaign against Iran.

TotalEnergies declined to comment on the developments, but announced on Tuesday that it was preparing to return the families of its employees from the region, due to the deteriorating security situation.
