Indonesian diplomat in Peru shot outside his home

A diplomat working at the Indonesian embassy in Lima was shot dead outside his home in a neighborhood of the Peruvian capital on Monday evening.
The Ministry of Public Order said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances in which the diplomat was killed in front of the front door of his residence.
Police Chief David Guivar, speaking on public broadcaster TV Peru, said it was possible it was a “settlement of scores.” The diplomat was returning home on a bicycle when he was shot by a man who fled on a motorbike with an accomplice, according to footage broadcast by local media.
Zetro Leonardo Purba, 40, had been living in Peru with his family since April. The Foreign Ministry said security measures around the Indonesian diplomatic mission would be increased and that the embassy would be provided with "all necessary assistance and protection." Peru is facing a rise in crime, particularly extortion.
