The extreme heat in Washington has melted the wax statue of President Abraham Lincoln.

First, before 1 month, the head melted, then one of the legs moved from the torso, the other leg changed shape, while the chair sank to the ground.

The memorial stands on the site of Camp Barker in Washington, DC, a Civil War-era refugee camp that once housed African Americans and now houses an elementary school.

The statue was placed outside Garrison Elementary School as part of the Wax Monuments series.

The monument is more than a wax statue, it's also a candle, and this isn't the first time it's had problems with melting.

The statue was installed in the same location last September, but the first version of the wax monument contained over 100 wicks that ignited prematurely, melting a significant portion of the installation.

Washington DC is under a heat alert and high temperatures are expected to continue throughout this week.
