Police officer, "Martyr of the Homeland" Enea Mekolli is being escorted to his final resting place. After the tribute ceremony held this Friday, colleagues, close friends and family members said their tearful farewells.

Enena Mekolli was killed in the line of duty, during an operation conducted in Korça to capture the much-wanted Violand Breçollari, where another officer was also wounded.

The incident
Yesterday morning, during a police operation to capture the wanted fugitive, Violand Braçellari, who was hiding in the cattle stables in a wooded area on the outskirts of the village of Lozhan in Maliqi, opened fire with a Kalashnikov at the police. The barrage of bullets killed officer Enea Mekolli on the spot and injured Edison Adri. Meanwhile, the perpetrator of the incident was injured, receiving three bullets, in the hand and in the ribs, and is being treated at the Trauma Hospital together with the injured police officer.
