State Police officer Enea Mekolli, who lost his life in the line of duty during yesterday's police operation in the village of Bode in Maliq, will be escorted to his final resting place today.
Tributes have begun at 10:00 at the Palace of Culture in Pogradec. The ceremony to escort the "Martyr of the Homeland" to his final resting place will take place at 14:00.
Although the status of "Martyr of the Homeland" provides for burial in the Martyrs' Cemetery, the family has requested that the burial ceremony take place in his hometown.
According to the family, this request is related to the fact that they have previously lost another son to a serious illness, also a police officer. The family's wish is for the two brothers to rest next to each other.
