"Reise Reporter": Shala River like Thailand, a European natural gem

"Crystal clear waters that captivate you, towering cliffs, untouched nature: What awaits you on the Shala River in northern Albania rivals even Thailand," writes the German travel agency "Reise Reporter", considering it a "pearl of European nature."

According to "Reise Reporter", Shala is a river that could not be cleaner, meandering through untouched nature.

Tall green rock formations surround the emerald waters, and colorful boats and small beaches spread the message: Welcome to the Shala River in Albania!

"This natural site in the Albanian Alps is so picturesque that it is often called the Thailand of Europe," writes the German travel agency.

"Reise Reporter" shows how it can be reached and what expectations a tourist can have from this natural wonder in northern Albania.

Shala River: A natural idyll

The Shala River flows through the Alps in northern Albania, creating an idyllic setting. It is a tributary of Lake Koman, into which it flows after 35 kilometers, and boasts a truly breathtaking landscape: the river winds through gorges in complete solitude, captivating adventurers and nature lovers.

To enjoy the unique river in the Shala Valley and the impressive rock formations along its banks for more than just a day trip, guest houses located directly on the riverbank and hidden in nature are ideal. These guest houses offer simple rooms during the summer season and must be booked in advance.

Swimming, sunbathing and boating

Water lovers can enjoy the welcoming Shala River. Cooling off in the turquoise waters is a popular activity. Most of the guest houses located along the riverbank have beach areas equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, perfect for soaking up the sun.
