The worker lost sight in one eye while working at Trifon Murataj's "BanaKing" company! How the incident was tried to be kept hidden

New details have emerged regarding the incident that occurred at the Banaking company, at the Port of Durres, where a worker suffered serious eye damage while working.

It is learned that a 48-year-old man was seriously injured while opening crates of bananas in a container. He was stabbed in the eye with a scalpel, thus losing sight in one eye.

The company administrator, Trifon Murataj, has been declared wanted for this incident.

The event occurred on February 19, but for 5 days in a row the company kept the incident secret.

In a statement to the police, company executives announced that "the employee did not report" and that "he had left with a colleague to a private clinic."

But the clinic refused to treat the 48-year-old, who was then taken to the Durrës State Hospital, where the police were subsequently notified of the incident, subsequently launching an investigation into the circumstances.

Although he was rushed to the hospital, the worker lost his sight, while the company received a large fine from the Labor Inspectorate for being employed without the relevant document.

On 18.02.2025, citizen AG, 48 years old, resident of Durrës, employee of a company operating in the port of Durrës, was accidentally injured in the eye while working.

In this case, the investigative group immediately went to the scene of the incident, which carried out the first actions to clarify the circumstances and identify the responsible citizens.

The procedural materials for the case were referred to the Durrës Police Commissariat's Crime Investigation specialists to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office on 18.02.2025.

Following the actions, on 18.02.2025, citizen TM, 56 years old, resident of Tirana, the company administrator, was declared wanted for the criminal offense of "Violation of occupational safety rules".

Trifon Murataj also wanted for cocaine in bananas

Trifon Murataj is also wanted for the seizure in 2022 of a quantity of approximately 33 kilograms of cocaine at the port of Durrës, hidden among crates of bananas coming from Ecuador.

After the discovery of the cocaine, three people ended up in handcuffs, two of whom were employees of the port of Durres, where the cocaine shipment passed through.

Trifon Murataj, who fled the country, denied any connection to the cocaine found among the bananas. He lives in the United States and runs a banana import and trading company known in the market as "Banka King".
