"Do you have any weapons?" / Police release body camera footage of driver accelerating and driving away, crashing into 9 cars and 1 motorcycle

Footage from a police body camera has been released, showing 31-year-old Imer Krrashi leaving a checkpoint, crashing into several cars and a motorcycle in which a police officer was riding with his wife.

The video shows the moment Krrashi accelerates the car as the policeman asks him if he has a weapon. The chase lasted about 1 minute, when Krrashi was put in handcuffs.

The services of the Tirana Local Police Directorate, in continuation of the work to control the territory and persons who may be circulating with firearms or transporting narcotics, based on the information received on the operational route that a vehicle was moving on the ring road, in the direction of TEG, and the driver of the vehicle could be armed, at around 12:30, at Liqeni i Thatë, the Special Force "Eagle" signaled a stop to the vehicle driven by citizen IK, 31 years old, after they had received information that the 31-year-old was circulating with a firearm.

After stopping the suspect vehicle, the Police services informed the driver of the vehicle that he and the vehicle would be searched. When the driver of the vehicle was informed of the Police order, he refused the search order and drove away at high speed, endangering the Police officers who were communicating with him.

Based on the information received that this citizen may have had a weapon with him, the refusal of the driver of the vehicle to be checked and the speeding departure towards TEG, the Police services were put in pursuit of the vehicle, which, due to heavy traffic, crashed into 9 vehicles and 1 motorcycle, in which citizens ER, 52 years old (off-duty police officer) and his wife, citizen OR, 46 years old, were circulating, who are in hospital, out of danger to their lives.

The Police Services, after an intensive pursuit, were able to block the vehicle and its driver, citizen I. K, alias I. M, alias IU.

During the search of the vehicle, officers of the "Eagle" Special Police Force found and seized a pistol firearm.

Citizen IK, with a significant criminal record and high social risk, was escorted to the premises of Police Station No. 1, for further procedural actions.
