"He was looking for work in Shkodra!" - The disappearance of the 28-year-old Australian in Valbona, his brother speaks: The hotel owner informed me! He had separated from the group and was leaving for…

The brother of a 28-year-old Australian, Cameron Twiss, who has been missing in Valbona for several months while exploring the country, has spoken about his brother's disappearance and recent contacts with him.
On the show "With an Open Heart" on News 24, he revealed that Cameron was a passionate traveler, who preferred to travel alone and enjoy nature.
According to him, he was notified by the owners of a hotel in Shkodra, where Cameron had stayed and where he had expressed a desire to work.
As the missing young man's brother has revealed, Cameron had talked to the hotel owner about the possibility of employment in exchange for accommodation.
Brother of missing Australian: I had contact with my brother in early October 2024. My brother was between Valbona and Theth. Several helicopter searches were conducted, but nothing was found. Mikel from the hostel in Shkodër informed me. The hotel owner told me that Cameron broke away from the crowd and went towards Theth and when he did not return after 10 days, the owner immediately notified the police and his family. The group was mainly Albanians from Tirana. Cameron was the only foreigner among the other Albanians. Mikel told me that Cameron wanted to walk alone.
Cameron really enjoys nature trips. He has also traveled alone in Albania. He has also been to other countries in Europe and has also been to Albania, after they recommended it to him. Apparently, he has tried to work in Shkodra. He told the hotel owner that he could work so he wouldn't have to pay. He has also worked in a restaurant in England. I traveled to Albania and again they told me the same things. We have very little information and we don't know what the track is.
The young man's disappearance since October last year has worried and alarmed his family. Cameron had been staying with the couple Mikel Vuksanaj and Irene Gjoni, owners of a hotel in Shkodra.
On October 11, Cameron dined with five Albanians at Mikel Vuksanaj's house. The other four were Mikel's wife, two of his grandchildren, and another Albanian who was staying with them. On October 12, he checked into the "Kol Gjoni" guesthouse in Valbona, accompanied by Mikel Vuksanaj and one of his grandchildren.
On October 13, at around 05:30, Mikel Vuksanaj, his nephew, and Cameron set off with a group of 50 Albanians from Tirana, towards the highest peak in Albania. At around 07:00, Cameron expressed his desire to go directly to Theth, instead of the planned itinerary, and decided to split from the group that would follow the trail to the summit. He was expected to arrive in Theth around 11:00, to have lunch, and then return to Valbona that same day.
That day, Cameron exchanged voice messages with two friends and also sent voice messages with similar content to another friend. All messages and information about the disappearance of the Australian citizen have been submitted to the Shkodra Police, but family members say the authorities have not shown any interest.
All of Cameron's clothes, laptop and passport were left at Mikel Vuksanaj's house, where he was staying. Intensive searches were carried out, both on the ground and with drones, to see if he could have fallen anywhere, but without success.
