The flames that broke out on the afternoon of April 14 in the 12-story building in the "Arlis" complex in Tirana, near the QSUT, consumed almost half of the building along its entire length and destroyed 30 apartments.
The first spark remains unclear. At the moment the flames burst, there is no one near the cardboard boxes, which are seen as the first source of the fire. A little earlier, children were seen playing in the area, who may have thrown something into the cardboard that caused the flames, but the possibility of an unextinguished cigarette being thrown from the upper floors of the building is not ruled out. The investigation continues, and it is expected that the cause will be clarified.
The "Arlis" company itself, in a public reaction, said that the facility was built respecting safety standards, certified by the competent authorities since 2021. Regarding the facade, "Arlis" charges the contractor company, which has committed itself to material standards, with responsibility.
11 people were injured by the flames and smoke inhalation, residents and firefighters.
