"Villages submerged in oil ponds"/Tomorri reveals another scandal with

Journalist Klodian Tomorri, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, has uncovered another scandal with Bankers Petroleum.

Tomorri said that Bankers should have raised and given the Albanian state around 400 million euros for environmental damage, but has not paid anything.

"There was a clause that forced Bankers in the last 5 years to raise $50 million as a guarantee for what is called the cost of abandonment. The wells that are being used remain as oil pools. The strengthening of the lek should have started in the summer of 2024.

It should have been agreed, a figure should have been set for how much environmental recovery costs for the entire field where Bankers has exploited the wells. There are entire villages submerged in oil basins. It is about 300-400 million euros. Bankers should give the government 400 million euros, so that the government could recover the environmental damage in the fields and villages of Fier. No money has been frozen and they are leaving it until they finish the concession.

They will finish the concession and take what they can, they will take it well because at this price of oil they are getting it well and we will be left with empty hands as always. He takes billions, or hundreds of millions, leaves 400 million in environmental damage and runs away. You as a state do not take any measures. What did you arrest them for? You do not take the money. Why do you allow this now?

"There were rumors that the strike was because they wanted to remove the Chinese. But I doubt that another company will come there, because the field is finished. It has been barbarically exploited. They are taking whatever they can, they will leave the land scorched," Tomorri declared.
