Suspected as an accomplice in the assassination attempt on Gilmando Dani and Muçi Shaljani, Ylli Zalla escapes from RENEA forces

A large-scale police operation has been conducted in the Kruja area to capture 49-year-old Ylli Zalla, who was declared wanted, based on information obtained through operational means regarding his location.
The operation was attended by the structures of the Tirana Police Department, the Kruja Police Commissariat and the "RENEA" Special Forces. During the intervention, the wanted man noticed the presence of the police and quickly fled, entering a forest area and taking advantage of the darkness.
During the searches carried out at Ylli Zalla's apartment, in the village of Zalla, the police arrested citizen Fatmir Alla, 55 years old, a resident of the same village.
He is suspected of the criminal offenses of "Supporting the perpetrator of a crime" and "Failure to report a crime", after having informed and helped the wanted person to leave the apartment.
In the apartment of the wanted man, the police have seized a pistol with cartridges in the chamber ready to fire, a cell phone that is suspected of not being taken by the perpetrator during his escape, as well as combat ammunition and a frequency detection device.
During the search, the 49-year-old's brother, citizen EZ, 35 years old, wanted by the Lezha Police Department, was also found. He is suspected of being an accomplice in an incident that occurred on 10.06.2026, where a quantity of explosive material exploded in an open environment. He will be pursued at large.
Ylli Zalla has been wanted since November 2025, when an arsenal of weapons was discovered in his apartment, following investigations related to the assassination in Rinas. Zalla is suspected of being an accomplice in the November 2025 assassination that killed Gilmando Dani and Muçi Shaljani, charges that were never proven.
Meanwhile, 12 years ago, Ylli Zalla was arrested for making homemade bombs and was also involved in the production and sale of drugs. At that time, he was suspected of having links with the ISIS group to recruit Albanians for jihad. Years ago, he had also threatened the life of the owner of a cement company in Fushë Krujë.
