The toll from the tragic accident that occurred on March 3 (Monday), on the Naro-Camastra highway in Sicily, Italy, is increasing.
The 39-year-old driver of the car that was transporting the 5 Albanian employees to the agricultural farm also died in hospital due to his injuries, while the young man Flori Topalli, 24, had initially lost his life.
After four days of agony, Tili Pilinci's heart also stopped beating in the Villa Sofia intensive care unit in Palermo.
He was driving the car that collided with a heavy truck loaded with fruit and vegetables last Monday, killing young Flori Topalli.
He fought with death for four days. Hospitalized in desperate condition at the Villa Sofia Hospital in Palermo, Tili Pilinci's heart stopped beating today.
The driver of the car involved in the accident with a truck transporting fruit and vegetables just before dawn last Monday has also died.
The death toll in the tragic early morning accident on the Naro-Camastra highway has now risen to two. Flori Topalli (pictured below), twenty-four years old, died immediately after the collision and six others were injured, with Pilinci the most seriously.
"The thirty-nine-year-old Albanian was immediately considered in critical condition and was transferred from the Barone Lombardo hospital in Canicattì to the Villa Sofia in Palermo, where doctors have always kept a confidential prognosis for his life," authorities told Italian media .
The Albanian workers who were in the car lived in Canicattì and Naro.
Apparently, the young men—aged 24 to 39—had recently arrived in Italy and were engaged in seasonal agricultural work.
On Monday morning, just before dawn, they were on their way to work.
