From friendlies to the World Cup: Kosovo's extraordinary path in football

The Kosovo national team is making history. Only one victory separates them from their first participation in a World Cup, making this moment one of the most triumphant and exciting in Kosovo football.

From recognition by FIFA in 2014, where it was allowed to play friendly matches, to UEFA membership in 2016, to triumphing in League D of the Nations League in 2018/19, Kosovo has shown that it is not just a new nation in football, but a force to be reckoned with.

Meanwhile, now in 2026, after just a few years on the international stage, the Kosovo National Team is just one victory away from making history, its first participation in a World Cup.

The final of the World Cup qualification play-off takes place on Tuesday between Kosovo and Turkey, starting at 8:45 PM, at the "Fadil Vokrri" stadium in Pristina.
