The film "One Battle After Another", the black comedy by American director Paul Thomas Anderson that tells the story of the persecution of former revolutionaries by white supremacists in the United States, won the BAFTA award for best film, the gala evening which took place tonight.

Anderson, who has been nominated twice in the past, won the award for best director, recording his first win in the category against directors such as Yorgos Lanthimos (Veugonia), Chloe Zhao (Hamnet) and Ryan Coogler (Sinners).

The award for best actor went to British actor Robert Aramayo for his performance in the film "I Swear," a biographical drama by Kirk Jones, based on the true story of a Scotsman who suffers from Tourette syndrome.

Jessie Buckley, the frontrunner in her category, won the award for best actress, as expected, for the film "Hamnet."

The awards for supporting actor and actress went to Sean Penn (“One Battle After Another”) and Wunmi Mosaku (“Sinners”).

The best British film was Hamnet, and the best foreign language film (not in English) was the Norwegian film Sentimentality.

The award for best animated film went to Zootopia 2.
