"The revolt should not be dampened by political leadership", Salianji: Citizens should be given the floor, protests are a reaction!

Former MP Ervin Salianji, invited to the "Oponencë" show on News24 , commented on the latest political developments in the country and the role of yesterday's protest.

Salianji stated that protest remains an indispensable instrument for citizens to react to the misgovernance and dissatisfaction that, according to him, the current government produces. He emphasized that every citizen who protests should be appreciated, adding that currently there are many reasons to protest.

According to him, among the most recent issues that have increased dissatisfaction is what he described as the "scandal of obstruction of justice" in the case of Belinda Balluku, as well as the problems that, according to him, are related to the AKSHI and the consequences that are being felt in the daily lives of citizens.

Salianji stated that there is a legitimate civic revolt, while adding that Prime Minister Edi Rama is, according to him, in a "moral and legal collapse", referring to the fact that important figures from the ruling party are facing justice.

He stressed that the civic revolt should not be dampened by political leadership and that, in his opinion, the voice should be given to the citizens who are directly facing the problems. Salianji cited as examples the Rrjoll protesters in Velipojë, the citizens who oppose the TID project in Durrës, the citizens of Kamza who are affected by the increase in urban ticket prices, as well as the patients in the country's hospitals.

However, he criticized the Democratic Party leadership strategy, emphasizing that, according to him, it has problems, but added that this does not diminish the value of the citizens who are protesting.

Finally, Salianji stated that the protests should not be seen as an instrument for the immediate overthrow of the government, but as a reaction of citizens to misgovernment.
