Trial in The Hague/ Kadri Veseli's defense lawyer: We are left in the hands of rumors

Veseli's defense attorney is continuing his closing argument, insisting that there is no evidence of his client's involvement in the crimes, but emphasizing that "we are left in the hands of rumors."
He said that Veseli's name is mentioned 260 times in the Prosecution's file, but in no case is his name mentioned in a context that has a criminal element.
"The direct claims [of Veseli's involvement in crimes] are based entirely on secondary evidence, often dropped. The SPO has not found a single witness who would come to court and say that Veseli committed crimes. They couldn't because he doesn't exist," he said.
Dixon said that during the war no one knew Veseli, but when he became known after the war, in political terms, "some people came out who tried to tarnish his name."
"Although they didn't say anything against him during the war, after the war they came up with baseless accusations. But none of them came here so we could challenge him."/REL
