Ervin Salianji, during a meeting with Democrats and his supporters in Fier, emphasized the need for justice and democracy within the Democratic Party and in Albania, criticizing the way the party leadership has established the electoral lists.
“Albania does not need more propaganda, but justice; it does not need concrete, but hope. It does not need power, but democracy – Albania and the DP need this,” said Salianji.
He criticized the decisions of the DP leadership during the compilation of the lists, emphasizing that the contributions of the Democrats are often ignored: "How is it possible that for 4 years we are all together, we have sacrifices together, but when the elections come, the leadership bunkers down and sets the lists excluding those who come out first. This has happened in Fier, Tirana, Elbasan, Dibër and Kukës. These are wonders that should not happen, because people and their contributions are ignored."
Salianji added that this situation serves Prime Minister Edi Rama, who according to him prefers a weak opposition status quo: "We do not have the power of Rilindja, nor the gangs that Edi Rama has, but we have the opportunity to make our party what the democrats want. Today, the DP is standing as Rama wants, unfortunately locked inside by the leadership that says that elections cannot be won."
He concluded by inviting Democrats and supporters to commit to a DP based on merit, communication, and democracy: "It is in all of our hands to make the DP what citizens and democrats want."
