Jill Biden's ex-husband arrested for murdering wife

Jill Biden's ex-husband has been arrested after being charged with first-degree murder of his current wife, Linda Stevenson, Delaware state authorities announced.
According to NBC News, 77-year-old William Stevenson, who was married to the former First Lady of the United States, was arrested on Monday and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Linda Stevenson, according to a grand jury indictment filed in Delaware.
New Castle County police did not provide details about the circumstances of the death. However, an initial release said officers responded to a call of a domestic violence incident on Dec. 28 at a residence in the greater Wilmington area.
Linda Stevenson was found unconscious in the living room of the house and, despite resuscitation efforts by police officers who arrived at the scene, she died. According to the announcement that day, her body was sent to the Delaware State Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.
The cause of death was not included in the statement released after William Stevenson's arrest. Police said the grand jury indictment, announced Monday, was the result of an "extensive, weeks-long investigation" into the woman's death.
Meanwhile, the TMZ portal published an audio recording from the call to emergency services on the fatal night.
William Stevenson remains in custody at Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post his $500,000 bail. It is not clear whether he has appointed a defense attorney, according to authorities.
A representative for former US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill have not commented on the incident.
Jill Biden married Bill Stevenson in February 1970, when she was 18 and a student at the University of Delaware, and he was 23. Later, Bill Stevenson founded The Stone Balloon Club, one of the most popular student bars in the United States, near the University of Delaware in Newark, where famous artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Dave Matthews have taken the stage for decades.
Jill and Bill Stevenson's marriage lasted five years. In March 1975, Jill met Delaware Senator Joe Biden, and her legal divorce from Stevenson was finalized in May of that year. Jill Biden reportedly attempted to retain 50% ownership of The Stone Balloon, but her request was denied.
