Neritan Sejamini: Here's who defeated Ramiz Alia in the 1991 elections

Journalist Neritan Sejamini, invited to the "Off the Record" studio by Andrea Danglli, on A2CNN, told how Ramiz Alia was defeated in the 1991 elections by an unknown engineer.
"The student protest simply dealt the final blow to a regime that had gone bankrupt, it was finished. But the political elite that took on the task of building pluralism was the political elite of communism. It was unformed, it had no ability to build a new world that it had neither seen nor lived. Albania was without a democratic tradition and given the isolation and unprepared elite, as well as the lack of political culture, of course our transition would be problematic," Sejamini initially said.
"Tirana, Durrës and Elbasan, the big cities, reacted and embraced the change very quickly. And the most notable event of the first elections, in March 1991, was that an unknown engineer, Mark Krroqi, defeated Ramiz Ali in the middle of Tirana in the elections," journalist Neritan Sejamini further explained.
