"Commander, I am your soldier!"/ Edi Rama denigrates Tërmet Peçi in the closed-door meeting in Gjirokastra: Don't cut our bread!
In a tense meeting of the Socialist Party Assembly for the Gjirokastra region, held in the city theater, Prime Minister Edi Rama issued strong accusations and direct attacks on the symbolic figure of Tepelena, Tërmet Peçi. The meeting, which was expected to be an organizational routine, turned into a public “trial” for Peçi.
Accusations: Sabotage, "fake news" and backstabbing
According to sources from the meeting, Rama has openly accused Peçi of being the author of behind-the-scenes attacks and attacks on other socialist figures in the region.
Attack on Flamur Golemi: Peçi is accused of orchestrating personal attacks and defamation (including spreading false news about health conditions/AIDS) against the mayor of Gjirokastra, Flamur Golemi.
Obstruction of Gramos Sako: Rama has described Peçi as an obstacle to Gramos Sako's work in Tepelena, accusing him of installing his "clan" (brother-in-law and close people) in the administration to maintain control.
Sabotage in Përmet: The accusations extended even further, with Peçi being held responsible for using his people to sabotage the SP structures in Përmet.
The clash in the hall: "I'm your soldier" vs. "Don't break our bread"
During the debate, the tones were quite harsh. Tërmet Peçi attempted to defend himself using tones of political servility, telling Rama: "Commander, I am your soldier!"
However, this statement did not appease the prime minister, who immediately cut him off with brutal language:
"There is no talk about you today. There are much better people than you in this hall. The rumors that start from Ali Pasha's castle do not affect the work of my government."
At the end of the meeting, Rama used street slang to seal the degradation of Peç's position within the structures, literally saying: "O Tërmet, don't break our b**h"*, and immediately left the meeting.
The end of the Peçi “era”?
This open attack in the presence of all the structures of the region shows an irreparable flaw. The use of Gramos Sako's name as successor and the isolation of Peç due to regional "intrigues" signals that the mayor of Tepelena may be on the verge of dismissal or total removal from political functions in the upcoming elections.
Rama seems to have decided to clean up the "islands" of local government that challenge the new party hierarchy in the south.
