"I am the greatest painter among prime ministers!" Rama jokes in

Prime Minister Edi Rama participated as an honorary guest at the Annual Conference of the Eastern Bloc Commission in Berlin. This is a platform for German entrepreneurship, which brings together experts in security, economics and innovation, as well as representatives of the Bundestag, the Chancellery and the diplomatic corps.

During his speech, the prime minister, among other things, recalled the fall of the Berlin Wall, and even jokingly stated that he is the greatest painter among prime ministers.

"Dear guests, thanks to Catherine's presentation, you all now know that I am the greatest painter among prime ministers. I would dare to say among chancellors as well, but you don't have to be a great painter to see that what is left out of a composition often reveals more than what is included within it. A few months ago, the European Council approved the integration process since the time of Jacques Delors, One Europe One Market," he said.

Excerpt from the Prime Minister's speech:

I didn't come here just because this is an important meeting, I came because there are three things that come together in an unusual way: the city where we meet, the moment in which we meet, and the topic I have been asked to speak about.

Let's start with Berlin, the place where perhaps the greatest geopolitical transformation of our lifetimes became a reality. And not just because a wall fell, but because after that wall fell a leader emerged with the courage to understand what history demanded next. Helmut Kohl did not see German reunification as an administrative challenge, he saw it as a political necessity. Against excessive caution, against skepticism, against the conventional wisdom of the time.

He decided that Germany should become one country again, history proved him right. I started with Berlin with Kohl not because this audience needs to be reminded of this importance of Germany for Europe, I did it because I believe that Europe is approaching a similar moment.

War has returned to Europe, strategic competition has gone global, technology is transforming the way we connect with each other and our daily lives. Europe is no longer the continent of lasting peace and lasting prosperity that it believed itself to be until recently. Europe has once again become a great power facing great challenges.
