The first round of voting for the 2 candidacies for the President of Kosovo ends, Feride Rushiti receives 63 votes. Tomorrow the vote will be held in the Assembly

The majority MPs in the Kosovo Assembly have voted with 63 votes for one of the proposed candidacies for President from Vetëvendosje, Ferite Rushiti.
64 MPs participated in the vote, while the opposition abandoned the session.
The second candidacy, Hatixhe Hoxha, did not receive any votes.
The plenary session was adjourned until the following day at 10:00.
Feride Rushiti is the founder and leader of the Kosovo Center for the Rehabilitation of Torture Survivors (KRRT), who, together with her center, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2025 by a Swedish lawmaker.
She founded the KRC in 1999 with the mission of providing treatment and rehabilitation for victims of torture in Kosovo. The center also promotes respect for human rights for all ethnic groups living in Kosovo and the prevention and eradication of torture and all forms of ill-treatment.
In 2018, Rushiti was honored with the Women's Courage Award presented by the US Secretary of State.
The award was given to honor the impact of her work on the lives of survivors and for her role as a world leader in human rights advocacy.
