Mark Rutte: Kosovo of strategic importance for NATO

Tonight, on the "Info Magazine" show on Klan Kosova, the annual report document presented by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte was presented, regarding the situation in NATO and also in the countries where NATO is present.

NATO's presence in Kosovo, the report says, is essential for the stability of the Western Balkans region.

The mandate for the Alliance's role in Kosovo stems from United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, adopted in 1999.

Since then, according to the report, the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR) has worked to help maintain a safe and secure environment for all communities in Kosovo, as well as freedom of movement. It does so in close cooperation with the EU, the United Nations and other international actors.

NATO, the report says, continues to support the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, particularly through the EU-facilitated dialogue, which is key to building sustainable peace in the region.

In 2025, according to Rutte's report, KFOR continued to provide stability amid high tensions in northern Kosovo and, as the NATO Secretary General calls it, the evolving strategic context.
