Deputies honor academician Rexhep Qosja, observe a minute of silence

The Kosovo Assembly has begun a special session in honor of academic Rexhep Qosja, with a minute of silence.

Albanian academic, writer and literary critic Rexhep Qosja died on Thursday at the age of 90, his family announced. In honor of Qosja's life, April 24 was a day of mourning in Kosovo.

Valjet Rexhepi, his nephew, wrote on Facebook that Qosja died and was buried on Thursday in a private family ceremony.

"At the request of the deceased, no reception ceremony will be organized by the family. The family will not participate in institutional events. We ask that our privacy be respected and that we be allowed to mourn in peace," Rexhepi wrote.
