Study Shocks! Getting a Puppy Is Harder Than Most People Think

A study published in the scientific journal PLOS ONE shows that caring for a puppy is more difficult than many people initially think.
According to the study, new owners often don't anticipate the challenges that come with owning a small pet, such as sleep deprivation, changes in daily routines, financial costs and the time it takes to care for them. About a third of them said the experience was more difficult than they expected.
Experts advise that getting a puppy should be done with full awareness and not just for emotional reasons. They remember that every dog has a different character, regardless of breed, and this should be taken into account before adoption.
In families with children, special care is recommended when interacting with the animal, as certain behaviors can lead to dangerous situations such as unwanted bites.
The study also notes that responsibility for care often falls on a single person in the family, and lack of care in the first months can affect the dog's behavior in the future.
However, despite the difficulties, most owners form a strong bond with their pet and consider it a positive experience in their lives.
