Today is the International Day for Monuments and Archaeological Sites.
The theme chosen for this year is “Heritage at Risk: Resurrect, Resist, Reimagine.” This theme addresses urgent threats to cultural and natural heritage, focusing on challenges such as climate change, conflict, rapid urbanization, and digitalization.
This day highlights the need to protect, restore and adapt heritage sites that face unforeseen risks. Cultural heritage protection associations and foundations encourage global action, community involvement and innovative solutions to ensure the sustainability of cultural sites.
On this day, they suggest getting involved in conferences and exhibitions, organizing events around this topic, visiting monuments and promoting their preservation.
Within the framework of the International Day for Monuments and Sites, a series of activities have been organized and planned by regional cultural directorates in the country.
DRTK Korça in collaboration with DRTK Berat, organize the exhibition “Korça and Berat, a story of heritage”. Through the details of traditional gates and interior decorations, this exhibition brings a dialogue between two cities with a rich historical and cultural identity, highlighting the craftsmanship, aesthetics and history they carry.
DRTK Shkodër celebrated this event with a workshop activity that involved children and raised their awareness of the importance of preserving and promoting our cultural values.
