Vegetable prices drop in the market, local production dominates Lushnja, demand

Prices of seasonal vegetables have decreased by up to half compared to a week ago in the wholesale market in Lushnja, where local production from the greenhouses of Myzeqe predominates.

Producers and traders say that prices change every day and are determined mainly by the market.

"The prices are reasonable so far. A kilogram of tomatoes has gone up to 100 lek, the price has been reduced for about a week, where we have been selling tomatoes for even 50 lek per kilogram. The price is set by the traders, not us, the sellers," said one of the producers.

According to farmers, winter damage led to lower production and higher prices, while mashurka continues to be traded at over 200 lek per kilogram.

"Right now the prices are good. So far the onion has been sold for 150 lek."

Meanwhile, carrots and potatoes have emerged from Divjaka at favorable prices, increasing demand.

Collection points have started exports, but prices remain the same as the domestic market, while numerous offers have also brought discounts for imported products.
