Autocracy of corruption defendants, or Republic of prosecutors?

Former Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa resigned in November 2023, shortly after becoming embroiled in a corruption investigation, without even waiting for formal charges. He treated the resignation as a move to protect the dignity of the state.

-In November 2025, Ukraine's Justice and Energy ministers, although at war, resigned amid a major corruption investigation within the energy sector, which included allegations of a $100 million bribery scheme.
-British anti-corruption minister Tulip Siddiq resigned in January 2025, amid a corruption investigation involving her family.

-In the German-speaking world, a number of politicians have resigned due to plagiarism, including an Austrian minister in 2021 who was embroiled in a plagiarism scandal and two German ministers in 2011 and 2013, due to similar academic behavior.

-While the 2016 Panama Papers leak exposed at least 140 politicians and public officials globally, including several government leaders, who resigned and were involved in numerous investigations in many countries, including European ones.

Although there is no exact number of ministers who have resigned or been dismissed in Europe in recent years, these are some examples that show that the number of European ministers who have resigned or been dismissed due to investigations is significant and ongoing. The principle of ministerial accountability in the face of serious investigations is a non-negotiable principle, across the continent.

In Albania, we have ministers, deputies, and mayors under investigation and accused of criminal offenses, who do not even think of resigning and enabling the investigation. They act it out and demand justice armed with power.

The word justice for socialists is just a slogan. The justice of the defendants in power is not justice rooted in truth, but justice used and twisted according to need. The result is confusion; ambiguity; noise; lack of order.

The noise of Rama and his clerics does not protect justice.
On the contrary, in the noise and the concern that "we are returning to a republic of prosecutors", one can see precisely the death of democracy, which has its roots in the ethical vacuum of justice without conscience.
Democracies die not only from all the obvious lies, but also from the noise they create, precisely to obscure human judgment to the point where the difference between truth and screams is no longer distinguishable.
Autocracy begins when truth becomes negotiable and justice is personalized. It is even the transition from justice to convenience, which marks the birth of autocracy.

The autocracy of the socialist defendants was not built overnight, but step by step.
First, it discredited the institutions that aim to restrain power.
Second, it transformed truth into an opinion and the law into a weapon.
Third, it replaced moral responsibility with loyalty.
This manual in Albania is the seed of tyranny. And we are living the process of its germination and flowering.
