US President Donald Trump has announced that the American crew member who was reported missing after an F-15 fighter jet crashed over southern Iran has been rescued and is in good health.
The rescue operation was carried out by US military forces, who intervened to extract the pilot from a dangerous area where he had been stranded after Friday's incident.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared it was one of the most daring search and rescue operations in U.S. history. He noted that the pilot, a respected colonel, had been left behind enemy lines in difficult mountainous terrain in Iran and was being pursued by opposing forces.
"WE WILL NOT LEAVE ANY AMERICAN WARRIOR BEHIND! The fact that we were able to complete two rescue operations for the crew of the F-15E, shot down by Iran on Friday, April 3, without any Americans killed or injured, demonstrates once again our extraordinary dominance and air superiority over the skies of Iran," Donald Trump wrote on the TruthSocial network.
Trump added that the US military had been continuously monitoring his whereabouts and expressed satisfaction that he was now "safe and sound."
"This is a moment that all Americans, Republicans, Democrats and others, should be proud of, uniting around this success. We possess the best, most professional and most lethal Armed Forces in history."
