Health Minister Zubir Ahmed became the latest official to resign, stating that the British public has "irreversibly lost confidence in Starmer as prime minister."

In his letter published on the X platform, Ahmed sharply criticized the leadership of the head of government, stressing that the government's achievements are being "faded and undermined by the lack of values-led direction."

His resignation comes just hours after three other British government ministers resigned. The first to announce her resignation was Communities Minister Miatta Fahnbulleh, who wrote in a letter to Starmer that the country needs change, but "the public does not believe you can lead this change and neither do I."

Jess Phillips then also resigned from her position as Minister for Protection and Social Security, stating that "actions, not words, matter."

According to British media, over 80 Labour Party MPs have already called on Starmer to resign immediately or announce a timetable for his resignation.

However, more than 100 MPs are reported to have signed a statement in support of the prime minister, arguing that "this is not the time for a leadership contest."

For his part, Starmer declared during a cabinet meeting that he would "continue to govern" and insisted that no contest has been opened for the leadership of the Labour Party.
