Authorities in the capital of the southern Russian region of Dagestan declared a state of emergency on Saturday after heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding and power outages.
The Makhachkala city administration announced that emergency services have been put on high alert and will provide assistance to affected residents.
According to the regional Ministry of Emergencies, over 327,000 people were left without electricity due to the bad weather.
Authorities announced that 283 settlements, with over 327,000 residents, including around 89,000 children, have been left without electricity.
The head of the region, Sergei Melikov, stated that the services have taken precautionary measures for the worsening weather.
