New revelations are emerging in the complicated case of the Greek officer who confessed to spying for the Chinese, sending sensitive NATO information to Beijing.

The main issue of national security
Greek authorities are treating the espionage case involving the 54-year-old colonel as a matter of great national importance.
The Ministry of Defense has essentially imposed an informal “omerta” for national security reasons. No one is saying anything because this could have complications in relations with NATO allies and in Sino-Greek relations.

The 54-year-old is believed to have been recruited by Chinese intelligence during a conference abroad. Either by another Chinese agent or by a Chinese person who identified the colonel through his information that was in a shared download, possibly via LinkedIn.
