US President Donald Trump announced on Truth that there will be a three-day ceasefire in the war in Ukraine, from May 9 to 11, while Russia celebrates its victory in World War II.
"I am pleased to announce that there will be a three-day ceasefire (May 9, 10 and 11) in the war between Russia and Ukraine," the US president wrote in Truth, adding that the ceasefire also includes the exchange of 1,000 prisoners for each country.
President Trump claimed that he had personally asked Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky to implement the ceasefire.
"We hope this marks the beginning of the end of a very long, deadly and brutal war."
"Talks continue to end this vast conflict, the largest since World War II, and every day we are getting closer to that goal," Trump concluded.
