US-Israeli attacks on Iran, Russia reacts: Negotiations were a distraction

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has reacted sharply after the attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran.
In a public statement, Medvedev criticized US President Donald Trump, calling the offensive evidence that earlier negotiations with Tehran were not realistic.
"The peacemaker showed his face once again. All the negotiations with Iran were just a distraction. No one had any doubts about that. No one really wanted to negotiate anything," Medvedev said.
He added that the current clash will depend on the parties' resilience over time, also making a historical comparison between the US and the Persian Empire.
"The United States is only 249 years old. The Persian Empire was founded more than 2,500 years ago. Let's see what happens 100 years from now," he declared.
