EU reacts to Supreme Court ruling that declared Trump tariffs illegal: We are reviewing it carefully, discussion in EP on Monday!

"We are taking the decision into account and analysing it carefully," Olof Gill, a spokesman for the European Commission, told AFP, adding that he was awaiting "clarifications" from the US government "on the measures it intends to take" following the decision.
"Businesses on both sides of the Atlantic depend on stable and predictable trading relationships. That's why we continue to support low tariffs and work to lower them," he added.
The European Commission has not yet said what the consequences of this decision will be for the trade agreement concluded last summer with the United States. The agreement reduced tariffs imposed by the United States on most European products to 15%.
The Supreme Court ruling could slow down the implementation of the deal. The European Parliament's trade committee is expected to vote on the issue on Tuesday.
German Social Democrat MEP Bernd Lange, head of this Committee, announced that he had called for Monday "an extraordinary meeting of the negotiating team and the European Parliament's legal service to discuss the next steps and the implications of the decision on the planned timetable."
"Given that a large part of the retaliatory tariffs are based on a now questionable legal framework, neither the US government nor the European Union can simply resume their activities as if nothing had happened," he stressed.
